![]() And I"ve belatedly realize that there are a lot of links to "gas mask", which need to be de-disambiguated, unless "gas mask" should point here (I think I've redirected the civilian ones already). ![]() Very open to better name suggestions here. It is commonly used to describe both historic wartime equipment and modern elastomeric respirators worn for all sorts of non-conflict-related reasons, and these are really not easily fit in the same scope. How about "Conflict mask"? Or should we limit it to exclude military scrubbers and SCBAs? Should we limit it in time range? "Gas mask" is a common term, but does not describe the scope of this article. Since it is now 2020, it might be nice to get this sorted in less than 15 years. I still think this article should be renamed apart from anything else, "civilian gas mask" was a wartime term for masks used by civilians in the war. Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.244.214.30 ( talk) 18:46, 14 November 2006 (UTC) Reply ddlamb, Carboxen, helpful 2006 IP, I have moved it o military gas mask and disambiguated " gas mask". (Most of this comes from US Army manuals and personal experience.) Anything you do to disabuse the public of the term "gas mask" is a public service. If it turns to a gas, which for something like sarin occurs at a fairly low temperature, these types of masks afford no protection to the wearer. Most chemical agents are deployed as an aerosol. The type of masks shown and described here, only filter out particulate or droplet material out of the gaseous environment. (ie: nothing of the gaseous or liquid environment makes its way into the closed system.) This requires that it have a self-contained environment ie: SCBA or for those divers SCUBA. (Note the caption on the picture on the right.) A true gas mask should protect the user from any gaseous or liquid environment. The US Military uses the term "Protective Mask" for what is improperly here being called a gas mask. Thank you for your efforts - Carboxen 23:27, 10 January 2006 (UTC) Reply There is yet another aspect to this. ddlamb 22:45, 8 January 2006 (UTC) Reply I support your approach, and agree with the respirator reasoning. Please limit edits to this entry in the interim, because I don't want to put a 'major edit' hold on the page. ![]() I would like to redirect this page to respirator once I'm finished, which won't be for several weeks. Help is appreciated and welcome you can start by looking at the OSHA and NIOSH pages on respiratory protection, which can be found by doing a Google search for 'respirator' and either 'OSHA' or 'NIOSH.' Remember to come over to respirator - edits here will have to be moved over there anyway. If Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, it should at the very least discuss each type of respirator using the correct terminology, instead of 'filter mask' and 'gas mask.' Therefore, I am being bold and taking on the project. ![]() In the United States, OSHA requires medical clearance to wear even a simple half face respirator during the course of employment, if the employer is covered under OSHA's Respiratory Protection standard breathing through one of these respirators is not as easy as it seems on the surface. I am in the process of rewriting the Wikipedia entry for respirator, which is the correct name for what this entry calls a 'gas mask.' My reasoning is that 'gas mask' is incredibly incomplete as a description - for example, there are full face respirators, half face respirators, powered air-purifying respirators, different cartridges for different hazards, and more. ![]() ![]() As long as you know which time zone you are in and the UTC offset of another country, you can easily calculate the time in that country. This may sound confusing at first, but keeping time this way offers a lot of benefits to people, companies, and even the military around the globe. However, if the countries are located West or East of each other, they will observe a different time – this is why Spain and Russia, as an example, are in different time zones despite being much closer than Spain is to South Africa. What this means is that it’s noon everywhere along the same longitude: it’s the same time in Madrid and Cape Town, despite these cities being thousands of miles away from each other. This is because, once again, the Earth rotates around its axis, but the poles do not move. Now, time zones are calculated by degrees West or East rather than North or South. This way, it’s 12PM at noon everywhere in the same time zone. Each slice is a time zone that is 15, 30, 45, and so on degrees West or East from Greenwich one slice accounts for one hour behind or ahead the Greenwich Mean Time ( GMT), which sits atop the zero longitude. To keep track of time around the world accurately, scientists split the planet into 24 slices, each slice accounting for 15 degrees of longitude counting from the Greenwich Meridian, also known as longitude zero. When it’s evening in London or Frankfurt, the sun is only rising in Lima or Los Angeles in other words, different regions of the world observe noon at a different time, and when it’s night in one region, it may be noon in another. Because the Earth is a sphere that rotates, it cannot be noon at the same time all over the world: as the Earth turns, the sun hits different regions at different times. To start at the beginning, let’s explain what a time zone really is. Ready to start keeping world time? Let’s dive right in: And to make time zones more fun, we’ll list some curious time zone facts and trivia at the end of the article, so be sure to read it till the end. Next up, we will provide a list of the major territories that are located in the CDT time zone, as well as all the major cities in this region. To clear up the confusion about time zones, explain CDT (Central Daylight Time), one of the major time zones in the world, we’ll dig into the science and history behind time zones and talk about how it works. Knowing how time zones work and how to calculate time in different locations around the planet helps you plan and communicate better – after all, no one wants to get a work call or a Zoom invitation for midnight or two in the morning, even though it may be a perfectly reasonable time on your end! Understanding the time standard and time zones is useful if you work, communicate, or collaborate with people who live in different countries than you. ![]() When it comes to hanging things on the wall in general, there’s a rule of thumb to remember and that is to hang pictures on wall studs if you can. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about picture hangers for your plaster walls. On the downside, it’s more brittle and more labor-intensive than drywall. Plaster walls give home builders the creative freedom to make curves and arches around the ceiling and the walls. ![]() It’s also thicker and more contour-friendly. Plaster wall has a rough and uneven surface, giving off an old-home aesthetic. These layers are then nailed to wall studs and coated with plaster for a nice finish. Plaster walls are made from strips of wood or lath layered on top of each other. To help you get started, here’s everything you need to know about plaster walls and how you can hang pictures on them the right way.įirst Things First: What’s a Plaster Wall?īefore there was drywall, plaster was the go-to choice for walls. With plaster walls, you will have to make decisions that prioritize the condition of the plaster wall. Doing so will cause the plaster to crack. ![]() This means that there are lesser choices in hardware because not all of them work well with plaster. The biggest challenge in dealing with plaster walls is that this type of wall is more brittle than, say, drywall or c oncrete. Living in a house built in the 40’s? You probably have plaster walls, and picture hanging might be a little different for you. The engine sounds better than it did in the first SLKs, but it doesn't compare with the best sports coupes. The gates are too widely spaced, and gear engagement is too vague. Rowing this ropy six-speed shifter is far less satisfying. But the C230 isn't as enjoyable to drive as those cars. That handily beats the 318ti and the VW GTI (Europe's original hot hatch), and it would have tied for second quickest in our "Coupes de Grace Redux" comparo (December 1999), matching the Acura Integra GS-R and Toyota Celica GT-S. The 192-hp supercharged four motivates its 3398-pound burden with relative ease, covering the quarter-mile in 15.7 seconds at 90 mph. That brings us inevitably to the question of performance. ![]() It's a masterpiece, especially compared with the BMW's large, noisy, and windy cloth sunroof. The glass is treated to block all but 2.2 percent of the sun's ultraviolet radiation, and for full protection, a pair of cloth shades can be deployed electrically. When the roof is open, a large wind-deflector panel in front of the opening tilts up to prevent any buffeting, booming, or cockpit turbulence at speeds up to 90 mph. Two glass panels cover the entire roof the front one can pop up to vent or slide back over the rear one for open-air motoring. The front buckets provide good lateral support, and the chic cloth is a welcome change from today's de rigueur hot-in-summer, cold-in-winter leather (a $1410 option).Īnd then there's the pièce de résistance, an idea that was featured on the 318ti California but is perfected here: the $995 panoramic sliding roof. Seating for four is comfy unless the rear riders are tall of torso or hairdo, in which case the roofline's inch-lower sleekness will present an interference fit. Inside there's a sporty three-nacelle instrument binnacle, a unique three-spoke steering wheel, and genuine aluminum trim. Claar's friends in the budget office helped him nab the four-door's optional Sport-package suspension as standard equipment and scored all-new exterior sheetmetal, bent into a much more raffish shape. Yes, the seats of the base car are cloth-upholstered and manually adjusted, but the 318ti used a cheaper outdated rear suspension and different and cheaper switchgear, and shared the sedan's front-end sheetmetal unaltered. And the base price of $25,595 - $5000 less than a C240 - indicates deep de-contenting, as with the BMW, which sold at a similar discount.īut maybe Claar had allies deep in the organization that helped him to make lemonade of this lemon assignment, because the cost cutting seems less obvious. Howevere, as you approach your due date it may become a little more difficult to get pictures simply because the baby is running out of room. Thanks to 3D/4D technology, now you don't have to wait until your baby is born to feel the joy of seeing him or her for the first time. During this time the baby puts on a lot of weight and their individual features, such as the nose, lips, and eyes, are much more defined resulting in the best possible pictures. In our experience, the BEST time for a 3D/4D Ultrasound is 27 - 40 weeks. At this time your baby is still very little, however it is amazing to see the development and changes at each stage in your pregnancy! During your gender reveal scan we will also give you a peak of your baby and additional pictures using 3D and 4D Ultrasound. To date, we have an 100% success rate at 16 weeks gestation! Gender determinations are performed using tradtional 2D Ultrasound. We know this is an exciting time in your life and we want to give you the best and most accurate results possible. The following are pictures that demonstrate the incredible difference a few weeks of growth can make.At 16 weeks we can guarantee you find out the sex of your baby. We tend to focus mainly on the face, and some other body parts, one at a time, since the entire baby won’t fit on the screen. This helps to see in detail what they’ll look on arrival. What to expect to see between 27-34 weeksīetween 27-34 weeks, the baby’s facial features have developed and are chubbier in appearance. However, because they are smaller at this stage, we tend to get more of the baby on screen than at later stages, and therefore are more likely to see them moving around. What to expect to see between 15-28 weeksīetween 15-27 weeks, your baby’s facial features aren’t fully developed, so you’re not going to see exactly what they look like yet. If you are only getting one 3D, 4D, or HD ultrasound done, we usually get the most clear and crisp images from 27 weeks and up, because your baby is developed enough that you can see their features clearly, which gives you a good indication of what they will look like when they are born. Some moms-to-be like to have one ultrasound during each trimester, so they can see the differences in each stage, but this is completely up to you. There are many stages to your baby’s development in the womb, and they are all beautiful, so you could avail of this ultrasound at any time, depending on your preference. In fact, almost all of the really interesting moments in the anime are actually revelations about the past. Most of the “plot” really has little to do with the present situation at hand and is more about exploring the characters’ pasts. However, I wouldn’t say that the plot is the anime’s strongest point. There are also plenty of mysteries to be solved and plot twists to be revealed. Oz, on the other hand, is earnest and soft-hearted, though he oddly doesn’t seem to care too strongly about anything. Alice, as the heroine of the story, is refreshingly powerful and strong-willed, with a bad mouth, a meat fetish, and a wicked laugh – and a surprising sensitivity. The story follows a somewhat well-worn path – disaster befalls naïve youngster, he meets mysterious girl, they discover new things, make friends and beat bad guys – but the difference is that the characters who fill all the traditional roles are so original and interesting. As they find out more about her, it turns out there’s a lot he doesn’t know about the past either…. They form a Contract: Alice decides to help Oz return to his world, while he promises to search for her missing memories. Trapped in this nightmarish alternate dimension, he meets a strange, devilish young girl named Alice, who is really a Chain (a sort of “monster” of the Abyss).
